An overview of the Central/Eastern/Northern Europe Operating Unit
The Central/Eastern/Northern Europe Operating Unit is the second-largest of ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s five Operating Units. This regional unit handles the sale, installation and servicing of elevators, escalators and moving walks.
The Operating Unit’s headquarters – ThyssenKrupp Elevator (CENE) GmbH – is located in Essen in Germany’s Ruhr area, from where it coordinates activities in Germany, France, the British Isles, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux countries, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. In fiscal 2011/2012 the Operating Unit had almost 11,000 employees and generated sales of over €1.5 billion at around 190 locations.
Research, development and production takes place at several European locations, the majority of them in Germany.
ThyssenKrupp Elevator (CENE)’s objective is to achieve further strategic and profitable growth within the Operating Unit. New companies are being established in particular in the emerging countries of Eastern Europe to meet the needs of the highly localized elevator business in these regions. Commodity Manager IT m/f
located in Essen
Your tasks:
- Manages CENE wide commodities to ensure effective commercial delivery of goods, services and projects
- Coordinates/aligns strategies between commodities
- Optimization of CENE wide commodities by pooling, LCC, MSA negotiations, resourcing, contract sign-off (with business partners or acc. to approval and signature policies)
- Management/development of CENE wide supplier portfolio - ensures optimal supplier portfolio considering requirements of partner functions
- Performs CENE wide Rfx (RfQs, RfIs, ...) for respective commodities
- Is responsible for supplier selection, -evaluation, -optimization and commercial trade-offs
- Develops and tracks implementation of CENE wide sourcing strategies for:
IT (groups electronics, computer systems etc.)
- Central communication with CENE wide preferred Suppliers
- Ensures sufficient supplier capacities based on demand planning and requirements
- Involves business partners (e.g. internal customers, engineering) in strategies
- Drives demand management & product optimization with partner functions
- Makes suggestions for savings targets, sets up and implements measures to achieve saving targets
- Assuming responsibility for substantial and sustainable global supply chain cost reductions within the commodity
- 2nd or 3rd step escalation instance for operative purchasing in case of unsolved quality and delivery problems
- In close collaboration with global Manufacturing and Regional Centers
- Representing the interests of the CENE within the group
- Participating in Make/Buy decisions and overall sourcing directions
- Responsibility for the performance management system for global procurement processes
- Reporting to Head of Purchasing CENE
Your profile:
- Engineering graduate with focus on Electrics/Electronics or advanced technical background
- At least 3…5 years of relevant experience in Electrics/Electronics purchasing
- Strong track record in

- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to work well within a team and across organizations internationally
- Strong level of drive, resilience, tenacity, flexibility and initiative
- Willingness to travel regularly both internationally and domestically
